Artist Statement

As a painter I enjoy enticing the viewer to look at my work on another level and discover the look in the eyes of a predator, detect the shift of feathers as a bird is ready to launch and soar; to see the vapor coming off the back of a sheep in the cooling morning air; the glint in a fox’s eye on the trail; and to note the beauty, character, grace, strength and vulnerability in wildlife.

I paint plein air landscapes full of emotion of the moment and beauty in form, line, contrast and even a bit of drama according to the weather. I feel fortunate to be back in New England where there is such a variety of wildlife and appreciation of art in this beautiful and changing landscape.

Biography:

Past president of the Tennessee Watercolor Society. Member of several geographically diverse watercolor societies.
Studied watercolor with Brenda Swenson, Thomas Schaller, Soon Y Warren, Matthew Bird and other nationally respected watercolor artists.
Studied art and photography at the University of Tennessee and the University of New Hampshire.
