Artist Statement & Bio

I am a passionate creative professional who has worked in the field of graphic design for over 37 years. Along side of my graphic design I have continued to create fine art and share my creative passion.
Drawing since an early age, I am mostly self-taught. In High School I was inspired to pursue a career in art. While at Syracuse University I pursued an Editorial Design curriculum with an additional concentration in Illustration. The illustration concentration led to formal training in a variety of art mediums, and while my professional career took me in the direction of graphic design, I continued to develop my drawing and painting skills, and incorporate them into my designs when possible.
While my main art medium has been graphite and colored pencil drawings, I have continued to expand my art skills in a variety of mediums. My art has been exhibited at a variety of New Hampshire locations. This has led to numerous private commissions throughout the years. Participating in a number of Lakes Region Art Association annual shows over the years, I have been honored to receive First Place awards in the Drawing category. My colored pencil work has also been featured several times in publications produced by nationally-renowned colored pencil artist Ann Kullberg.
What started out as a fun art class for a friend’s homeschooler, the sharing of my creative spirit through art instruction has developed into 11 years of art classes for area homeschool students ranging in age from 5 to 17. The goal has always been to bring out the creative side in my students, giving them the opportunity to explore different art techniques with a variety of different mediums and projects. I believe art is an integral part of a child’s development as it can expand the ability to interact and communicate through self-expression, as well as offer challenges that cultivate problem-solving skills and experimentation. I have continued to expand, offering classes for adults around the New Hampshire Lakes Region in the form of private lessons and group “Paint Nights”, providing basic art instruction while letting participants explore their creative side during an enjoyable event.
Growing up in the upstate New York and now a long-time resident of the New Hampshire Lakes Region, I am fortunate to have the natural beauty of the Adirondacks, and the Lakes and Mountains of New England to fuel my creative spirit. I am grateful for the support, encouragement and patience of my family and friends!
